Who should apply?

The Public Health Management Certificate program is designed for public health professionals who are in a management position or aspiring to be in a management position. This program develops the skills to manage people and teams, money, and information. Visit the overview pages for more information about how the Public Health Management Certificate program benefits the scholar and the scholar's agency.

How long is the program?

The Public Health Management Certificate program is designed to be a one-year learning experience. Scholars all start at the same time and are expected to go through the core curriculum as a cohort. However, for individuals who complete the core courses but are not able to complete the electives within one year, an extension of up to 12 months can be granted for completion of the electives.

What is the scholar time commitment?

There is one on-site at the beginning of the program which spans 4 days (August 20-23, 2012) where all scholars will travel to Seattle, WA for in-person instruction and acclimation. The rest of the 12-month learning experience will be conducted via distance-based learning techniques, including online courses, webinars, etc. Scholars can expect to spend an average weekly preparation time of approximately 2-4 hours; and 2-3 hours per week in distance-based small or large group sessions. Visit the curriculum pages for more information about the courses.

Where should I stay during the August 20-23, 2012 on-site in Seattle?

There are a number of hotels within short distance of the on-site, which is being held near the University of Washington campus.
